It has a broad range of historical uses in different cultures. Cultivated mainly in Sri Lanka (whole quills) also Seychelles, Madagascar and other tropical regions. Various terpenoids found in the volatile oil are believed to account for cinnamons benefits. Important among these compounds are eugenol and cinnamaldehyde.
