Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) is a tree native to southern Asia and India. The dried fruit of the tree has a long history of use in Ayurveda. Sometimes referred to as "chebulic myrobalan," haritaki is one of three dried fruits that make up the ayurvedic formula Triphala. People use haritaki to promote healing from a number of conditions ranging from sore throat and allergies to constipation and indigestion. In Ayurveda, haritaki is said to support the "Vata" dosha.

Usage

Haritaki is often taken on an empty stomach, typically in the morning or evening. Some people prefer taking it before meals, while others take it after meals to aid digestion. Experiment and find a time that works best for you. Generally, a common starting dosage is around 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon daily, and you can adjust it based on your response.Do not exceed suggested use per serving.

Constipation Relief:You can take a small amount of haritaki powder with warm water before bedtime to promote bowel movements and relieve constipation.

Detox Tea:Prepare a detoxifying tea by mixing haritaki powder with other herbs like ginger, cinnamon, and honey. Steep the mixture in hot water and drink it.

Oral Health:Mix a small amount of haritaki powder with water and use it as a mouthwash. It is believed to help with oral hygiene.

Hair Care:Mix haritaki powder with water to form a paste and apply it to your hair and scalp. Leave it on for some time before washing it off.
