Symptoms and Causes

Any condition that causes excessive pressure on the wrist may cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Pregnancy, obesity, arthritis, hypothyroidism, trauma and diabetes are the common conditions that are related to carpal tunnel syndrome. The condition may also be caused by tendon inflammation resulting from constant work.

Some of the symptoms of the syndrome include:

  • Numbness or tingling in hands and fingers
  • Weakness in hands
  • Pain in palms and fingers
  • Pain in wrist and elbow
  • Stiffness in the fingers when awake

Treatment

Some women suffering from the syndrome have been found to be vitamin B6 deficiency. Researchers claim that lower levels of vitamin B6 are associated with a higher prevalence of carpal tunnel symptoms. It is thus best to increase intake of vitamin B in your diet to reduce carpal tunnel syndrome.
