Symptoms and Causes

Some studies have shown that the cause of Alzheimer's disease is sometimes very difficult to diagnose because each patient has different signs and symptoms. But some researches state that the disease is caused due to tangles and plagues in the brain. According to doctors, Alzheimer's disease can be classified into 4 stages.

  • Pre-Dementia
  • Mild Alzheimer's
  • Moderate Alzheimer's
  • Severe Alzheimer's

People suffering with Alzheimer's disease can suffer from various brain disorders. Some of the common symptoms include

  • behaviour and mood changes
  • disorientation
  • confusion about time, events and place
  • memory loss
  • suspiciousness
  • difficulty in swallowing, walking or speaking

Treatment

While researchers are looking for a cure for Alzheimer's disease, B vitamins continue to give hope to patients suffering from mental disorders. New research suggests that B vitamins may prove quite helpful in protecting against Alzheimer's. A recent study conducted by the University of Oxford researchers claims that vitamins B6 and B12 and folic acid help in reducing brain shrinkage by about 90 percent in parts of the brain affected in Alzheimer's patients.
