Balance good & bad bacteria within the digestive tract with Bioplus Lactobacillus Acidophilus 80mg. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is the key probiotic to help promote & support digestive health whilst boosting the immune system.
Probiotics have been found to help improve the nutrient intake from the foods we eat, help alleviate some gastrointestinal issues such as constipation & Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and help maintain the balance of good and bad bacteria in the digestive tract. Probiotics such as Lactobacillus Acidophilus have also been found to help support the immune system.
Bacteria is already present within the gut. The concept of bacteria can be seen as negative to many but it’s important to understand that there are both bad and good bacteria in the body and that both are necessary for digestive health – but need to balance. By incorporating probiotics into your diet, you can significantly help support this balance, by building-up the levels of good bacteria to help counteract the effects of the bad.
A key reason to build up your probiotic levels in the body is to help maintain good bacteria levels. In times of illness, antibiotics may be prescribed. Unfortunately, antibiotics kill any bacteria within the intestinal tract ‘good or bad’. This can leave you susceptible to digestive issues and can affect overall health.
By replacing the good bacteria reduced by the antibiotics with probiotics in your diet, you may be able to decrease or eliminate chronic or acute episodes of diarrhoea or constipation.
And in terms of the immune system, probiotic bacteria can actually hinder harmful pathogens reproducing or even surviving in the gut. They can also control the amount of antibodies in the intestines. This results in a stronger immune system better equipped to fight off disease and illness.

Other ways you can help your digestive health include:
- Eat properly!
- Don’t rush your food. Take the time to eat slowly. Eating quickly means your body wont realise you are full and you an easily overeat.
- Try not to overeat. Eat smaller portions or try eating four to five small meals a day instead of three large ones.
- Eat regularly and try not to skip meals. This can lead to a build-up of painful gas as well as slow metabolism.
- Don’t eat a big meal before bed. Your last meal should be 2-3 hours before lying down.
- Throughout the day, drink plenty. At least one and a half litres (two and a half pints) of liquid a day to help aid digestion.

Health Article: Daily Mail: Could PROBIOTICS ward off cancer? Increasing levels of 'good' bacteria in the intestines 'slows and stops the disease developing'
A growing body of scientific evidence points to the role intestinal bacteria plays in triggering and preventing obesity, and other chronic diseases. Now, a new study suggests that it could also help reduce the risk for certain types of cancer.
The findings show that certain bacteria in the gut has anti-inflammatory properties that help slow or stop the development of the disease. Ultimately, it could mean doctors are able to reduce a person's risk of cancer by analysing the levels and types of bacteria in their gut.
Over millions of years, gut bacteria have evolved into both good and bad types.
The good ones have anti-inflammatory properties and the bad ones promote inflammation.
The human body typically contains about 10 trillion bacterial cells, compared with only one trillion human cells.
Professor Schiestl and his colleagues isolated a bacterium called Lactobacillus johnsonii 456, which is the most abundant of the beneficial bacteria, and which has some useful applications outside of medicine.
'Since it is a Lactobacillus strain, it makes excellent yogurt, kefir, kombucha and sauerkraut,' Professor Schiestl said.
Researchers noted the bacterium reduced gene damage and significantly reduced inflammation.
Reducing inflammation is key because it plays a critical role in many diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, heart disease, arthritis and lupus, as well as accelerating the aging process.
