Singing superstar Alicia Keys’ #NoMakeup Movement is generating quite a buzz around the world, inspiring many women to break free from the shackles of make-up they were once tightly bound to, and instead walking freely in their own skin without fear of rejection in society. Women are feeling freer to be themselves.
Liberation? A universal uprising in changing what is deemed as beauty? Maybe not, but for many women, this is the opportunity they have been waiting for. They will not risk missing the chance to look and feel themselves in public & being comfortable in their own skin, regardless of what society has told them about how they ‘should’ look in order to be regarded as beautiful, and accepted more so into society.
Keys’ feels free to display her effortless natural beauty in an array of photos, TV interviews and performances. In an interview about her first make-up free photo shoot she stated “‘I swear it is the strongest, most empowered, most free, and most honestly beautiful that I have ever felt”. Don’t all women want to feel like this too?
Yes, women have been taking make-up free selfies for a long while, but it is Keys’ public appearances and declarations to continue this, that has really rocketed this concept into the limelight. She hopes it is a movement and no doubt so do many others.
Thinking of following in Keys’ footsteps? Start with a good skincare regime if you do not have one already. This should include a moisturiser that hydrates skin giving it a radiant youthful appearance. Key ingredients should include collagen to help plump, firm and hydrate skin, humectants for hydration and antioxidant vitamins including vitamin C to help skin fight against environmental factors that cause skin dying and ageing. It will definitely help accentuate your natural beauty.
Even if you don’t feel ready to fully join the #NoMakeup Movement, prepare your skin by pampering it daily, so that when the day comes when you do join…you’re ready.
